Project GO, in partnership with On Course, Inc. offers challenge ropes course adventures to qualifying youth programs. We need skilled volunteers to offer these programs to groups and that’s where this training comes in. It’s a two day workshop designed for YOU to gain the confidence, skills, and connections to facilitate for Project GO. No previous ropes course experience is required — just a willingness to learn, the ability to help on our programs and a sense of adventure.
Over the course of the training weekend, you’ll experience a mini-ropes course program and get hands-on learning of all aspects of a ropes course program: the gear, essential knots and rope skills, the structure of a ropes-course day, the safety talk, how to set up and take down the course and how to belay. Throughout the weekend we’ll play games and initiatives and we’ll talk about how and why we do these things. And of course we’ll climb, belay and practice, practice, practice.
This training is offered free of charge to Project GO volunteers. What we ask of you in return for this valuable training experience is that you make a commitment to facilitating with Project GO this year at a ropes course, whitewater and/or community-based program. Rest assured that over the course of the weekend you will gain the skills and make the connections with experienced facilitators ready to support you in making and delivering on that commitment.
