Project Great Outdoors

Project Great Outdoors

We are a volunteer based organization providing expertly guided and facilitated outdoor adventures for young people in Northern California and Western Nevada. Our mission is to guide youth towards broader perspectives and self-discovery through adventures in the great outdoors. For more information about how Project GO does its work, please see our “mission, vision and values” document.

What’s New

Four days and four trips, including the largest PGO trip ever!

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped Project GO do four trips in four days. Friday’s trip with seven boats and 43 participants was a record breaker for a program day, and was a great success. We’ll be posting photos soon, so stay tuned!

Still need a few guides!

Thursday Aug 12 is pretty skinny. Any way you can make it? Bay area youth centers would sure appreciate it! We have a group fairly begging to be added to the schedule on Thursday August 5. The challenge of finding guides, especially weekday guides, has lead us to turn down 7 trips this season. It feels great to have such a high demand for our programs… but it would feel better if we could accommodate them all. We are developing a new sign-up procedure for next years trips which we hope will make volunteering a little easier… and a little more common.
