How to apply for our Whitewater Rafting Program

From Project GO

Project Great Outdoors accepts applications from youth programs throughout Northern California and Nevada. All applications are evaluated on the basis of financial need and on the compatibility of the applying program's goals with those of Project Great Outdoors. In general, educational summer programs for underprivileged and at-risk youth are preferred.

The cost of the whitewater rafting program varies based on demonstrated need, date of the trip and size of the group. Rafting fees never exceed $25 per participant. The fees cover the actual costs of running the trip, including the cost of put-in, take-out, use fees, parking, equipment, river transportation and program materials. Fees do not include lunch or camping. All of our river guides are volunteers, who generously donate their time and energy out of their deep commitment to youth development.

  • Participants must be at least 14 years old.
  • Trips require 1 adult chaperone for every 5 participants
  • Chaperones are responsible for providing transportation
  • Chaperones are responsible for providing lunch for the group (including your volunteer guides).

If your group is interested in camping before or after your river trip, we can help you to book reservations at one of the local campgrounds. All camping activities are your group's responsibility and are at your own risk.
