Project Great Outdoors

Experiential Education

Experiential Education is a philosophy and methodology that advocates learning though doing. As Project Great Outdoors employs this philosophy, a third component, reflection, is added. Participants participate in an outdoor adventure requiring them to push boundaries, trust themselves and others, and try new behaviors. Through reflection and discussion about the experience, connections are drawn between this experience and other more common ones. This “doing” and “reflection” lead to concrete learning, and to skills that cam be applied in real life.
